Trip to the Saxon Switzerland

On 30th May we did a trip as SMD Chemnitz to the “Elbsandsteingebirge” to the famous “Bastei” bridge and enjoyed the free day. The day began at the main station in Chemnitz and after we had gotten to Rathen, we took a ferry from there to the other side of the Elbe river. From there we began our hike up to the Bastei. The hike took us through beautiful green forests and near creeks and when we arrived at the top, we had a breathtaking view of the river and the valley. There we took a much-deserved break and enjoyed our picnic before heading back down. On the way down we went past more impressive rocks and enjoyed the chirping of the birds. After a while, we took a break to take a group picture and also listened to a little input of one of the staff members. We were standing in the midst of the rocks and trees and thought about the fact that God had created all of this and even more: that he had created us and loves us so much! Then we continued our hike and took the ferry back to the other side of the river. Tired, but filled from the day, we took the train back to Chemnitz. What a beautiful day and what a nice time together in God’s beautiful creation!
